Is this a political party?
No. Albania United is a civic, nonpartisan campaign. We back no party or candidate. Our goal is only one: fair representation for the Albanian diaspora.
Is this foreign meddling?
No. We're Albanian citizens exercising a democratic right. Millions of Albanians live abroad, but they remain part of the nation and have every right to ask for fair representation.
Why should I register?
Because numbers carry weight. Every name strengthens the diaspora's voice and makes our demand harder to ignore.
Is registering free?
Yes. Registering is completely free and takes less than two minutes.
What happens to my data?
Your data is kept secure and used only for this initiative. It is never sold or shared with third parties.
What does Albania United ask for?
Just one thing: a dedicated diaspora electoral district, so the votes of Albanians abroad translate into real representation in Parliament.
The diaspora voted in 2025 and changed almost nothing. Why will this be different?
Because 2025 exposed the real problem, and it is fixable. Today, out-of-country votes fold back into the 12 home districts and dissolve — so the diaspora, a third of the nation, elects almost no one. A dedicated diaspora district gathers those same votes into one constituency that elects its own representatives. The votes already exist; what is missing is a place for them to count together.
You gather 200,000 names — then what? How does a list become a law?
The list is pressure, not the law itself. A diaspora district is created by a qualified majority in parliament — 84 of 140 votes to change the electoral code, or 94 to amend the constitution, which no single party holds. A large, organized, un-buyable diaspora makes granting that reform the reasonable move and refusing it the costly one. We change the math; parliament holds the pen.
Isn't the system too captured for any of this to matter?
That is exactly why the diaspora vote matters. At home, elections can be shaped by pressures that international monitors have long documented — vote-buying, patronage, local intimidation. A ballot cast from abroad sits outside all of it. The diaspora is the one bloc the machine cannot buy, track, or lean on, which makes it the cleanest leverage anyone holds for fairer elections.
Has a diaspora district been won anywhere else?
Yes, and it is ordinary. Italy, France, Croatia, Portugal and Romania all reserve seats for citizens abroad, each with its own overseas constituency. Albania would be adopting a proven European model, not inventing one — the design is tested and the legal templates already exist.
Are Albanians abroad trying to run the country from the outside?
No. We do not run Albania from abroad and do not claim to. The people fighting for a fairer country are at home, in the streets. Our part is the one thing only the diaspora can do: cast a vote the machine at home cannot buy, and win it a seat. It is solidarity with the fight inside, not a lecture from outside.
Can I leave the movement?
Yes. You can request that your data be deleted and leave the movement at any time.
Do I have to be an Albanian citizen to join?
No. Anyone who supports our mission can join the movement. That said, only Albanian citizens can vote in Albania's elections, so we ask about citizenship to understand how many supporters are also potential voters.
Won't this just fade like the protests?
No. This isn't a protest — it's long-term organizing. We have a clear demand, a concrete plan, and a strategy to get there. Change doesn't come from the anger of a moment, but from organizing and persistence.
